We are working with a well estbalished business based in the centre of Hertford whom require a Litigation Executive to assist senior members of staff with cases as well as taking ownership of your own caseload.
You will be working on both pre-legal and enforcement stage files. You are responsible for keeping the filing system up to date and organising all correspondence, documents, notes and dates on your files while keeping within a 2 day window for dealing with all incoming correspondence and emails. You are to take ownership of cases allocated to you from the point of instruction until conclusion and closure.
 

To provide a high-quality legal service to the firm’s clients.

  • To comply with Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) requirements and carry out duties in a professional manner, comply with relevant professional standards and any requirement set by relevant regulators including the SRA.
  • To work in accordance with the firm’s office manual and to its quality and performance standards.
  • Carry out duties with due regard to the firm’s policy and procedures including Client Care, Equality and Diversity, Information Governance, Data Protection and Health and Safety.
  • To contribute to the growth and development of the team and firm
  • To mentor and assist other members of staff as required.
  • To work in a corporate and co-operative manner and build strong relationships with other members of the firm.
  • To undertake training and constructively take part in meetings, supervision, seminars and other events designed to improve communication and assist with the effective development of the post and post holder.
  • Develop and maintain good client relationships and ensure services are provided in a timely fashion and the client is informed regularly on progress and costs.
  • To achieve agreed service outcomes and outputs, and personal appraisal targets, as agreed by your manager.
  • To be punctual and comply with the firms sickness reporting procedures as contained in the Sickness and Attendance Policy and Procedure.
  • To maintain the risk register.
  • Organising and maintaining documents in a paper or electronic filing system in accordance with the Client Care Policy.
 
Key responsibilities
 
  • Carrying out conflict checks and preparing and sending CFA’s
  • Preparing Claim forms and issuing them to court.
  • Answering all incoming calls
  • Responding to incoming emails and drafting outgoing emails
  • Liaising with clients, defendants, lenders, courts and other parties in relation to ongoing cases
  • Preparing witness statements, affidavits and other documents.
  • Reviewing files for enforcement action and advising clients on the best course of action.
  • Meeting with clients, lawyers, and other professionals to talk about case details.
  • Filing pleadings at Courts and Tribunals
  • Ensure all key dates, directions and hearings are recorded in the outlook shared calendar “Key Dates” and all directions and hearings are complied with.
  • Helping prepare for trial by organising exhibits and assisting with other tasks as needed.
  • Preparing briefs, pleadings, appeals, and other legal documents.
  • Searching public records and other resources to prepare cases.
  • To undertake other duties commensurate to the post as directed by your manager.
  • Produce reports as requested by your manager.
  • Write articles on legal development.
Hours: Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm
