Are you currently educated to, or working toward, a minimum of CIPD graduate level membership?
 
A Local NHS trust is looking to hire a HR Service Advisor to be responsible for the providing high quality generalist HR support and advice to the trust’s line managers, including medical staffing issues. The successful candidate will actively contribute to ensure the effectiveness of the workforce, HR polices, and HR Operations.
 
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provides generalist HR advice and support to the trust’s line managers within the established framework of corporate trust workforce policies, procedures, and practices – both responding to ad hoc issues/cases and as part of planned workload allocation routines.
  • Assists the Business Support Officer in ensuring that all individual employee HR casework activity is being progressed expeditiously and in accordance with established trust timescales/quality standards. Raises with Business Support Officer concerns where delay appears to be occurring.
  • Works closely with the Business Support Officer in ensuring that support time is being dedicated only to those matters covered by the HR Charter.
  • Takes the ‘lead expert’ role in one aspect of the professional HR work of the Workforce function and develops that expertise over time, acting as a resource for colleagues.
  • Participates as required in job evaluation routines.
  • Contributes to effectiveness reviews of the application of trust wide HR policies / practices as required. Assist with the development of ‘management guidance’ to support the implementation of new / revised HR policies.
  • Works in a ‘joined up’ manner with other Workforce function personnel as necessary, especially with regard to progressing individual HR cases. Also seeks to develop positive links with individual line managers and staff side representatives.
  • Contributes to driving the importance of continuous service quality improvement within the Workforce function, raising challenges to existing practice and actively seeking ways of achieving better service value. Undertakes continuous personal development activities as agreed with the Business Support Officer / HR Service Officer.
  • Collects / collates activity data and ensures the timeous preparation of management information and reports as required. Assists with the preparation of reports and ensuring agreed follow up action is taken to enable implementation of decisions.
  • Participates in project work / training of line managers.
  • Actively contributes to ensuring the success of the HR Business Support Team.
  • Represents the Business Support Officer as required.
 
Essential Requirements:
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent.
  • Currently educated to, or working toward, a minimum of CIPD graduate level membership.
  • Experience giving generalist HR advice to line managers.
  • Experience working in a unionised environment.
  • IT literate.
 
This is a temporary ongoing position with an initial period of 1 month.
This is a band 5 position that is full-time Monday to Friday 9-5.
Band 5 pay is around £12.74 per hour.
