About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Medical Secretary to join a busy GP surgery
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced NHS GP Medical Secretary who is looking for a long-term position and can hit the ground running from day one.
The successful candidate must have recent experience working within an NHS GP surgery and be confident using EMIS.
Key Responsibilities
You will provide an efficient and professional medical secretarial service to GPs and other healthcare professionals, including:
- Typing and preparing medical letters, reports, patient referrals and other clinical correspondence accurately and efficiently.
- Creating and sending referrals as directed by clinicians using the appropriate templates and procedures.
- Ensuring urgent referrals are processed promptly and on the same day where required.
- Booking hospital appointments relating to referrals.
- Liaising with hospital services regarding GP and patient enquiries.
- Processing and monitoring referrals and ensuring information is communicated appropriately.
- Providing general administrative and secretarial support to the clinical team.
- Maintaining a high level of confidentiality when handling sensitive patient information.
Essential Requirements
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- Recent experience working as a Medical Secretary within an NHS GP surgery.
- Strong EMIS experience.
- Excellent typing and written communication skills.
- Previous experience processing GP referrals.
- Experience liaising with hospitals and other healthcare services.
- The ability to work accurately and efficiently in a busy GP environment.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a wider practice team.
- A professional and confidential approach to handling patient information.
- Availability to work full-time
